The Department of Chemistry is one of the oldest
Departments existing from the day of the inception of the Institute in 1917.
Since then the Department has come a long way and taken up frontline areas
of interdisciplinary research. At present this Department is actively
engaged in research encompassing the following fields:
Synthetic organic
chemistry and green chemistry |
Molecular crystal, liquid
crystal and liquid states |
Biophysical studies of
protein folding, molecular chaperones, protein interactions |
Infection biology with
special reference to Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Helicobacter pylori |
Computational modeling of
signaling pathways.
Sigma factors in gene
regulation in mycobacteria |
Biological networks |
