Research interest

v     Micropropagation of endangered and economically important plants having medicinal and aromatic value.

v     In vitro conservation of medicinal plants by reduced growth under tissue culture    condition and by storage of encapsulated plant parts (artificial or synthetic seeds).

v     Root culture (transformed and non-transformed) of medicinal plant roots.

v     Qualitative evaluation of the in vitro-raised plants and plant roots at genetic and physiological level.

v      Application of DNA fingerprinting techniques in genetic fidelity studies of micropropagated / conserved (in vitro) plants.

v     Establishment of In vitro repository and DNA bank for high priority medicinal plants.

v     Computerised documentation on Indian Medicinal Plants in collaboration with S.A.I.F, Bose Institute (formerly known as R.S.I.C) and development of a software (“ PlantCon”) focusing conservation status of some highly prioritized medicinal plants of India.

A standalone downloadable version is available. For using the software please contact me.
