Research interest

  • To identify and record the prevalence and distribution of common airborne pollen grains and fungal spores in different indoor and outdoor environments with reference to meteorological parameters and hospitalization data.
  • Study of pollen morphlogy and ultra structural characters in solving disputed plant taxonomical and phylogenetical problems.
  • Identification of allergenically significant pollen and spores and assessment of their allergenic potential by in-vivo and in-vitro tests
  • Isolation and purification of allergenic components of the common allergenically potent types.
  • Identification, purification, cloning, expression and study of the recombinant allergen.
  • To investigate the presence of shared allergeniciy and antigenicity among taxonomically related airborne pollen and spore types.
  • Using allergens for hyposensitization (immunotherapy) of allergic patients.
  • Study to reconstruct the palaeoclimate and palaeoenvironment and their changes using both extant and fossil palynomorphs from the sediments of recent geologic past.
  • Quality control of honey samples to check adulteration and assess nutritive value through physico-chemical analysis.
